A "Capitello" seat object, designed by Studio 65, 1971,
for Gufram, Balancero/Torino, cold expanded polyurethane foam, height 80 cm, depth 125 cm, width 120 cm.
From the first series.
The "Capitello" in the form of an Ionic capital anticipates Post Modern design of the 1980s. Conveying the impression of a hard seat, the polyurethane foam in fact turns out to be soft and comfortable to use. The prototype was made by Piero Gilardi, who also created further extreme designs for the progressive Gufram production line.
