A COLLECTION OF WORLD WAR 1 MEMORABILIA. Effects belonging to Alfred Lawrence of the 5th Dragoon Guards. Lawrence survived the war and became President of the Cardiff Group of the Old Contemptibles Association. The collection includes his medals and badges, including the Mons Star; his badge and sash of office in the Old Contemptibles Association, and various other wartime artefacts including the fibre name-tags, a whistle, cap-badges and the Christmas 1914 issue of tobacco. The latter is virtually untouched, with the tobacco in the original wrappers, the engraved lighting taper and the Buckingham Palace gift envelope. The original embossed tin is in exceptional condition. There is also a scrap-book with photographs, drawings, telegrams etc. dating from Lawrence's service with the 3rd Cavalry Division. A collection £300-400
