A large, high-grade silver (85–95% purity), chased and engraved articulated fish, designed as a decorative object, possibly used as a spice container or incense holder. The body is composed of overlapping, articulated silver segments, allowing the fish to move flexibly when handled, mimicking lifelike motion. The surface is finely engraved with scales and details, and the head is realistically modeled with gills, eyes, and a twisted rope-form mouth. The fins and tail are delicately engraved and applied, adding to the overall realism.Articulated silver fish were popular in Egyptian silversmithing traditions, often created as novelties, charms, or functional containers, and prized for their craftsmanship and kinetic charm.Weight: 32.2 oz., (914 g.)Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold "as-is", refer to our T&C.Helios Auctions does not ship in-house. A list of recommended shippers will be provided.

L: 21 1/4 in., (54 cm.)

The articulated segments are well-preserved and functional, allowing the fish to flex and move as designed. No visible broken links or frozen segments. Minor age-related wear, such as small surface bends or slight misalignments in some scales, may be present but are typical and do not detract from its visual or kinetic appeal.
