A CENTRAL ASIAN OR BUKHARAN SILVER-MOUNTED WHIP, 19TH C.
A riding crop of the type used throughout Central Asia, this particular one possibly being from the important Silk Road city of Bukhara. The head of the whip is missing, but the rest of the piece is in very good condition. The herringbone plaited thong of the whip is still flexible and is attached to the handle via an arrowhead shaped piece of leather which has been tied to the handle with many strong knots. The handle has three silver bands along the shaft, with the tip being finished with a small silver cap and the pommel being a larger silver cap with a decorative geometric shape, as well as a small silver loop with an attached lanyard.
