A Burgundian Madonna and Child, 15th century, depicted in an upright standing position, the Child holding a golden globe in his left hand, the right hand carved to hold a sceptre, the blue painted cloak with rich, heavy drapery, painted red on the inside, the sides carved with occasional tubular folds, the tunic with soft vertical folds in the upper section, terminating in horizontally draped folds towards the bottom, the Virgin with beautiful wavy hair, the Child with tiny curls, delicate facial expressions, the Virgin wearing a low-pointed golden crown, walnut, carved in full round, the original painted decoration partly flaking, some old woodworm, around 1450-70, (Er) A beautiful, highly expressive Burgundian Madonna.
