Featured in this lot is this 1934 1st edition of "A Bunch of Wild Flowers" written and illustrated by Ida Rentoul Outhwaite, published by Angus & Robertson Limited in Sydney, Australia. This book follows in the tradition of Margaret Tarrant and Cicely Mary Baker's little books of poetry illustrated with "Flower Fairies". Ida Rentoul Outhwaite (1888 – 1960), was an Australian illustrator of children’s books. Her work mostly depicted fairies and she was a well known and perhaps the most famous Australian children’s book illustrator. The book includes 6 tipped-in plates in addition to a further 15 major monotone images and further marginal monotone illustrations. It shows a beige hard cover and reads, "A Bunch of Wild Flowers / Verse and Illustrations by Ida Rentoul Outhwaite" in blue lettering with a circular, floral image in blue coloring. The book shows good condition overall with some slight wear and foxing throughout, but no signs of obvious damage are present. It measures 9 1/2" L x 7 1/16" W x 1/2" D and weighs 8 ounces.
