A very rare example. With well-formed walrus grips, the tangband and bolsters finely inlaid with gold in flowering vinework with profiled silver panel. The graceful single-edged, T-backed blade tapering continuously toward the tip, and forged of superior black wootz damascus steel . The fine Central Asian type scabbard with characteristic suspension bands, takes the dagger in to the pommel, and is wrought entirely of well-embossed and engraved silver in a typical Bukharan floral diaper pattern. The locket terminal set with a band of eight faceted colored stones, the locket and body set with 15 further stones including turquoises and corals, the chape with fine twisted silver wire detailing and faceted lotus-bud finial. Mid 19th century. One stone chipped, wooden liner lacking. The weapon of a minister or warrior of note. Overall length 38.5 cm.
