A BRONZE FIGURE OF PRINCESS MARIE ERISTOFF-KASTRIOTI BY PAOLO TROUBETZKOY, RUSSIAN, 1866–19
Princess Marie Eristoff-Kastrioti (née Troubetzkoy), Russian/French, 1872–1954. "Young Girl with Bonnet", cast bronze with brown patina. Signed on base: P. Troubetzkoy. This charming small-scale bronze sculpture by Princess Marie Troubetzkoy (also known as Marie Eristoff-Kastrioti) depicts a young girl wearing a bonnet and holding a small object or toy in each hand, possibly referencing childhood innocence or domestic play. Modeled with a loose, Impressionist surface and a warm, softly mottled brown patina, the figure stands upright on a shaped base, the child’s skirt flaring naturally with movement.Although best known for his portraits, Prince Paolo Troubetzkoy (1866–1938) is more commonly associated with bronzes of this type. However, the feminine signature here, P. Troubetzkoy, is often found on works attributed to Princess Marie Troubetzkoy, who also worked as a sculptor in France in the early 20th century and is occasionally confused with Paolo due to the similarity in name and inscription style. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold "as-is", refer to our T&C.Helios Auctions does not ship in-house.
