A & A Peynetsa Zuni Pottery Bowl & Sacred Cornmeal
Featured in this lot is this beautiful Zuni pottery bowl with sacred cornmeal in a leather pouch done by Anderson & Amelia Peynetsa circa 20th century. Avelia and Anderson Peynetsa are a husband and wife Zuni pottery team located in New Mexico. When working together, their hallmark reads, "AA Peynetsa". He also is an excellent sculptor, applying relief figures as noted onto some of his pottery. The piece shows a white color with red/brown designs of geometric patterns and dragonflies throughout the piece. It features a nice handle and within the bowl is a rawhide bag with sacred corn meal placed in the bowl by the artists. It is signed on the bottom in black reading, "A.A. Peynetsa ©96 Zuni N.M.". The piece shows good condition overall with no wear or damage present. It measures 7 5/8" L x 7 7/8" W x 6 1/2" H and weighs 1 pound and 4 ounces.
