A 1926 Sunbeam 3 Litre Supersports, registration GF 8534, MOT, V5 document, buff logbook, and comes with paperwork outlining a £6,878 engine rebuild by M Collis in 1991, See illustration £40000-50000 Note: Sunbeam was renowned for its motor racing and world land speed record cars in the vintage era, yet the Supersports with its six cylinder dry sump, twin-cam engine was the only production model from a rather formal range that hinted at these exploits. One finished second at Le Mans in 1925 and the car was seen as a serious rival to the very similar priced Vauxhall 30/98 and Bentley 3 Litre. Despite this, few more than 300 were sold over a period of several years and under 50 are thought to survive. It was one of a group restored by Cameron Millar in the 1950/60's having been found in poor condition after wartime storage in a cricket pavilion. It took part in the 1986 Rallye Niege et Glace but since acquisition by Nick Baldwin in 1995has done nothing more strenuous than an VSCC Tour of Exmoor and a trip to Montlhery, during which it cruised on Routes Nationales at an easy 60 mph with occasional bursts of 80 mph (at which around 500 rpm are still in reserve).
