8th-9th Century A.D. historic dug artifact, bronze Christian pilgrim's ring ( wearable size 7 ) with oval face band & bezel, stamped with eight dots. The use of multiple dots as a decoration evolved from five, as found on earlier pilgrim’s rings & represented the five wounds of Christ. By this later time, the meaning had been lost & they were symbolic only. Â
