Heres a beautiful example of a popular military naval souvenir from the grand 1908 tour of the Great White Fleet.

Beautiful mint luster overall, I doubt it’s ever been used to pull a pocket watch out of someones pocket and has survived in like new condition.

Obverse artwork design shows Fighting Bob with his image and naval anchor with rope above him, on bottom half, VISIT OF / US NAVAL FLEET on angle down center, with ships on the waves, firing in top right half.

The Great White U.S. Naval Fleet was under command of Admiral Robley D. "Fighting Bob" Evans.

Not just a good will tour, the cruise was actually a demonstration of America's sea power.

As part of the good will tour, the fleet made a number of public appearance stops along the West Coast.

A variety of medals, badges, fobs, and other items were issued as souvenirs of these visits.

The cruise started with a send-off by Teddy Roosevelt on December 16th, 1907 at the Jamestown Exposition and finished at Hampton Roads on February 22, 1909 for a total of 46,000 miles of steaming.

Fighting Bob Evans was one of America's great heroes of the Spanish American War and his inspiring story brought enlistees into the navy.

Medal measures about 1 1/2" by 1 1/2", Leather pocket watch strap and brass buckle is 4" long.

Back is engraved "SCHWAAB S& S / CO. / MILWAUKEE" (Schwaab Stamp & Seal Company).

You usually don’t see these antique fobs in this amazing condition. Neat Military related collectible.
