CAPTAIN KANGAROO (1955-1984) - Captain Kangaroo's (Bob Keeshan) Blue Costume and Purple Creature Puppets - Captain Kangaroo's (Bob Keeshan) blue costume and purple creature puppets from the children's television series Captain Kangaroo. Captain Kangaroo wore his signature navy blue jacket for the first 17 seasons of the series, where he plucked surprises for his audience from his pockets with the help of his puppets.

This lot originates directly from Keeshan's personal collection. It consists of a navy blue wool jacket with four gold-color buttons, two large kangaroo side pockets trimmed in silver-color piping, and a silver-color metal "Captain Kangaroo" badge attached to the lapel; matching navy blue pants with silver-color piping on the outer seam and an Eaves Costume Company maker's label on the interior; two purple puppets made of faux fur; and a white faux carnation flower.

Also included to complete the display are a white Arrow button-up shirt (Size L), black leather Santoni shoes (Size 12), and four stuffed lion plushies, none of which are original to the production. This lot exhibits discoloration on the left lapel, scuffing and pitting on the bottoms of the shoes, and fragility to the puppets.

Additional Provenance: Letter of Authenticity from Keeshan dated 1972.

Estimate: $5,000 - 10,000
