This lot comprises eight bottles of 1995 vintage Château Léoville-Barton from the Saint-Julien appellation in Bordeaux.

Saint-Julien is an appellation in Médoc by the Gironde estuary, adjacent to Pauillac. The predominant grape variety here is Cabernet Sauvignon and the wines are powerful, complex and long-lived. The wines from the northern part of the appellation are comparable to those from Pauillac, while in the south the wines tend to be more elegant like those from Margaux. In the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855 there are no premier cru wine estates in Saint-Julien, although the best grand crus of the region, including Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, would most likely be rated even higher today.

After some more or less difficult years, 1995 was a great wine-year in Bordeaux and the high expectations of that time are continuously exceeded today. Also this wine is rich in tannins and matures brilliantly over many years. The 1996 vintage was initially underestimated, but later proved to be a top year for Bordeaux. It is a vintage that develops over decades and needs a lot of time to reach its peak.

The 1995 vintage Château Léoville-Barton was last awarded 91 points by Robert Parker. René Gabriel rated the wine 18 of 20 points. James Suckling rated the wine 94 points.

The fill levels are excellent (into neck). The labels are slightly damaged and soiled. The capsule is in perfect condition.
