We are pleased to offer this extraordinary set of antique Lenox dinner plates. Lenox is the premier china used in the White House and the only United States manufaturer of fine bone china. These are marked with the green Lenox stamp Circa 1906-1930, and numbered 1830)S.37.C which by Lenox's date system dates these plates to 1919. These plates were made expressly for the Ovington Brothers Store in New York City. Items marked with the Ovington Brothers stamp are a sign of the highest quality available at the time. Only the best was commissioned by Ovington. The last of The brothers Theodore and Edward passed away within 2 months of each other in 1909. The store continued on and later shortened it's name to just "Ovington's". Items marked with "Ovington Bros." are pre 1920. The fine bone china has the beautiful Lenox Ivory color with a bold royal blue band with raised hand enameled baskets of fruits and flowers in multi colors with swags and scrolls. They have gold gilt rims and accents. The set has no chips and is in very nice condition. I do not see any wear to the gold rims. The enameling is just beautiful. There are a few spots in the blue bands on a couple of the plates that look like water spots, I didn't want to try too hard to clean them, But they didn't seem to go away. It's not very noticeable, But I wanted to mention it. These would look wonderful displayed in a cabinet, Or use them on very special occasions. The plates measure 10 1/2" in diameter.
