This is an example of an 1834 pattern Victorian era Officer's helmet for the 7th or Princess Royal's Dragoon Guards. The helmet is composed of brass or gilt with an oak-leaf ornamented brass crest and lion head finial. The helmet has a distinctive elongated front peak lined with green leather. The rear sides of the skull have ornamental floral scroll patterns. The rayed plate has the Hanoverian Coat-of-Arms in the center, a Victorian crown at the top and a banner reading "DIEU ET MON DROIT" at the bottom. There is a band across the top of the front peak reading "7th. OR PRINCESS ROYAL'S DRAGn. GDS.". The rear peak has a scallop shell pattern with an oak-leaf pattern band across the top and is lined in brown leather. The large lion's head ear bosses suspend velvet backed chin scales with paw clasps. The sweat band is leather with a white silk liner.

Condition: Very good, the skull is bright with wear limited to scattered shallow dents and some hairline cracks. The sweat band and liner are very good with a tear and stains.
