78: A Greek Painted Terracotta Antefix
Greece, ca 3rd - 2nd century BC. A large and decorative pottery architectural antefix moulded with the head of a man with long full beard, wearing a phrygian style helmet. This type of antefix or acroterion was used as decoration along the roof-line of a building, usually to conceal the guttering or a join in the tiled roof. Probably from Rhodes.
