WALT DISNEY'S GOOFY: THE ART OF SKIING (1941) - Hand-Painted and Hand-Inked Animation Cel with Courvoisier Background - A hand-painted, hand-inked animation cel from the production of Jack Kinney's The Art of Skiing starring Walt Disney's Goofy with a Courvoisier background. Jack Kinney was the uncredited director, a precursor to Goofy's "How To" series, where Goofy learned how to ski and featured the first use of the now iconic "Goofy Holler." Art dealer Guthrie Courvoisier sold animation cels from Disney's early works, with new backgrounds created specifically for the sale of those cels.

This lot consists of a hand-painted, hand-inked depiction of Goofy on a clear celluloid sheet, his skis bending as he hangs over a ledge, over a custom airbrushed background by Courvoisier featuring their "WDP" stamp. It is housed behind glass in a black frame with a rear hanging wire. The cel exhibits warping from age, mostly around the edge of the character. Dimensions: 15.5" x 15.5" x 0.5" (39.5 cm x 39.5 cm x 1.5 cm)

Sold without copyright; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.

Estimate: $2,000 - 4,000
