<B>Seven Uniformed Ulysses S. Grant </B></I><B><I>Cartes de Visite</B></I></B></I><B>. </B></I>Grant's rise as a Union general is well documented in this group. There are two CDVs showing him as a Major General; two as a Lieutenant General; and three as a full General. Only one image - the earliest and rarest, dated 1863 - has a backmark. This reads “Barr & Young, Army Photographers, Palace of Art, Vicksburg, Mississippi.” One of the other CDVs is surely postwar as it identifies Grant as “President”. Soiling and somewhat worn corners.
