A fascinating group of antique maps and works on paper, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, showcasing both cartographic history and period illustration. The lot includes several hand-colored engraved maps depicting regions of North and Central America, the Caribbean, and Africa, alongside detailed engraved charts and geographical diagrams. Visible among the group are a finely colored map of Mexico and Central America, a map of Egypt and the Nile region, and an early chart of the Caribbean islands with navigational detail. One sheet features a charming period sketch of a rural cottage with figures in the foreground, executed in graphite on toned paper, while another presents zoological and entomological engravings alongside a detailed harbor chart. The maps display attractive original coloring in shades of yellow, green, red, and blue, with crisp impressions typical of their era. Edges show expected toning, small tears, and some paper loss consistent with age and handling, but the collection retains strong visual appeal. Together, these sheets provide an excellent cross-section of early geographic representation and artistic draftsmanship, ideal for collectors, decorators, or students of cartographic history.
