<b>129. [60TH GEORGIA]</b>
<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>Private <b><font size=-1>W. H. H. Vaughan</font>,</b> Bartow’s Artillery, enlisted in the summer of 1861 and had his company attached to the 60th Georgia infantry. The regiment performed garrison duty outside of Savannah on Skidway Island, as the Federal army enveloped Fort Pulaski. After the fort fell in Apr 1862, the 60th Georgia was ordered to Virginia, but Vaughn’s company remained behind as part of the force assigned to coastal duty. ALS, 2pp, 6"x9", Savannah, Oct. 11, 1862. To his mother, in part “..<i>.tell sister that she need not be uneasy about the negroes killing of me for I will try and keep out of danger...we are fortifying heavy around the city but I am afraid the Yankees will come up on us before we can get through. We have about 3000 hands</i> [slaves] <i>at work all the time but the Yankees are collecting around Savannah again. We expect them soon but if they will wait awhile for us we will be prepared to give them a heavy welcome... Kiss all the brats for me and tell them that before one more month rolls around that I will be able to see them if nothing turns up.</i>..” Some spelling errors have been corrected. Several partial fold separations with minor paper loss have been repaired with clear tape; o/w VG.

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped
immediately upon receipt of payment.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
authenticity by expert authenticators acceptable
