Lot of 6 books on Philosophy and Religion: 1. COMBE, GEORGE. The Constitution of Man Considered in Relation to External Objects. New York: Collins, Keese, & Co., 1836. From the Third Enlarged Edinburgh Edition. 16mo. Full leather with red leather gilt label on spine; marbled endpapers. With several phrenological line drawings. Good. All-over wear, outer hinge split at top, red label peeling on one corner, losses to leather on back cover and top corners. Pencil inscriptions, foxing, brown ink stain on title page. 2. & 3. ROUSSEAU, JEAN-JACQUES. The Confessions of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Vols. I-II. 8vo. Philadelphia: Gebbie and Company, 1904. 8vo. Original green cloth with red leather gilt labels to spines. Engraved illustrations throughout.  Both volumes are good. Fading/discoloring to spines and extremeties, both with splitting to back inner hinges, bookplates to pastedowns. 4. THE AMERICAN ROSAE CRUCIS, A MAGAZINE OF LIFE'S MYSTERIES.  Vol. 1, issues from January to December 1916, bound together in one blue cloth 4to volume. Editions include #s 1-8, #9 Sept. #9 Oct., #s 11-12. Good. The cloth is soiled, faded, rubbed, edgewear, gilt worn on spine; inner front hinge has split where it attaches to first edition's cover. Magazines themselves are in very good condition, with some toning. Bookplate to pastedown. 5. HERBERT, GEORGE, REV. The Temple, and the Country Parson. With his Life: Abridged from Izaak Walton. Boston: James B. Dow, 1843. 12mo. Textured brown cloth with pictorial gilt decoration on covers and spine. Two engraved frontispiece illustrations.  Good. Light wear, tears to cloth at head of spine, foxing. 6. WALLACE, LEW.  The Boyhood of Christ. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1893. 4to. Black gilt-stamped and blind-stamped leather. All edges gilt. With 14 engraved illustrations. Good. Leather on spine detached at front hinge, edge and corner wear, losses of leather to head and foot of spine, foxing only on front endpapers.
