6-bore percussion single-shot big game rifle. Breech shows H. Nock Patent in gold cartouche. Barrel is London proofed. The rifle measures 44-1/2” with 28” heavy octagon barrel that measures almost 1-1/2” acrossthe outside flats. The rifle is half stocked and shows a brown barrel with case hardened lock. The lock is nicely scroll engraved and shows a charging lion in a small vignette at its rear. The barrel shows an old Englishrebrown of which approx. 90-95% remains. The lock and breech show traces of case hardening drifting to silver. There is some pitting on the tang and buttplate, but generally very good metal surfaces. The stocks are good with some slight wear to the coarse checkering, some minor scratches, mars, dings, and normal use. The buttplate and triggerguard have been lightly cleaned to grey. The rifle is mounted with a v-notch rear sight and a blade front sight which are original to the period. A bone tipped ramrod which is to correct to the period is retained. The action is good, the bore is good and is rifled from breech to muzzle. One of the biggest rifles
