6 Thomas Wooley Sterling Wine/Champagne Goblets 1911-12. Thomas Wooley was a noted Birmingham silversmith, first registering his trade in 1887. These pieces are late in his career, beautifully executed in their regal simplicity with a slight hint of Art Nouveau styling in the stem. The hallmark is "T.W" for Thomas Wooley, the "Anchor" for the city of the assay office, Birmingham, England, the "Lion Passant", indicating sterling silver and the date stamp "M" in a shield punch, which is the date of manufacture 1911-12. They measure 3.5'' H x 2 &5/8'' diameter. Their petite size may indicate an apertif goblet or perhaps, sherry. The wideness of the bowl suggests a toasting champagne set. For whatever use, these are exquisite pieces of a noted English silversmith. Combined weight is 11.8 oz.
