While the old French sterling silver pieces always rank at the top internationally in quality and appeal, and value, there are just a handful of names that elevate it even higher in both appeal and value, and one is the house of Touron, the silversmith signature you see on each of these elegant fruit/dessert knives. Below the blades the silver is chased in the Louis XVI style. The set is of finest sterling and with rare Old Paris porcelain pistol shaped handles beautifully hand painted with miniature 18th century dressed aristocrats at play is pastoral landscaped gardens trimmed in gold gilt. At the top and bottom of the porcelain handles are 3 toned blue painted fish scales. The decoration of the porcelain is in the 18th century Sevres, Meissen, Dresden style. Each handle has deferent paintings on ether side. This set of knives were a handmade custom order at the time and ALL in near pristine Condition with a few scratches to the blades. Made by TOURON one of Paris's finest Silversmith's, during the Period of Napoléon III 1850- 1870 and Napoléon's Official Silversmith. Practical as well as very Collectible. CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY exceptional. The knives are 8" long.
