BATMAN (1989) - Production-Made Vicki Vale (Kim Basinger) Distressed "Corto Maltese Revolution" Time Magazine Cover with Printed Gotham City Blueprint - Vicki Vale's (Kim Basinger) distressed Time magazine cover headlined "Corto Maltese Revolution" with a printed blueprint of Gotham City from the production of Tim Burton's Batman. Upon seeing Vale's pictures of a violent rebel uprising in Corto Maltese - an Easter Egg referring to Frank Miller's 1986 DC Comics miniseries Batman: The Dark Knight - on the cover of Time magazine during his assault on Gotham City, Joker (Jack Nicholson) commented "I don't know if it's art, but I like it."

This lot consists of a Time magazine custom-made for the production but ultimately unseen in the final cut, as well as two photocopied blueprints from the production labeled "Ext. Gotham City. The color-printed cover with the headline "Corto Maltese Revolution pics by Vicki Vale" above a picture of a dead soldier on front and an unrelated 1988 Marlboro Lights advertisement printed on the reverse originated from a Sotheby's London auction held June 1993. Originally drafted by production draughtsman Dave Allday under the direction of production supervisor Anton Furst, both blueprints depict side and front angles of buildings in downtown Gotham and are dated "88." The cover exhibits intentional distressing by production with creasing, tears, and white ink misprints along its edges. Its margins are also unevenly cut. Dimensions: 8.5" x 12" (21.75 cm x 30.5 cm)

Estimate: $1,500 - 3,000
