Civil War Era, 54th Massachusetts Pension Envelope for soldier James Jones. James Jones fought for the 54th and survived the war. He fought at Fort Wagner as well. This pension envelope is well used, chipped and torn at top from handling with some words affected, addressed to his wife who was either applying or having a specialized pension firm handling his pension and payments for his a widow. Original and very rare, printed in black on a tan heavy paper envelope measuring 9” tall x 4” wide.

The 54th was featured in the movie “Glory”. The envelope lists his regiment as '54 Mass Vols' on the front in handwriting.
