BEN-HUR (1959) - Judah Ben-Hur's (Charlton Heston) Screen-Matched Distressed Slave Costume - Judah Ben-Hur's (Charlton Heston) screen-matched distressed slave costume from William Wyler's Ben-Hur. To protect his sister Tirzah (Cathy O'Donnell) from the Roman guards, Judah was arrested and forced to walk through the desert to Tirus to die in the galleys without trial. During his journey, his tunic became distressed from the harsh conditions of his captivity.

This costume is screen-matched by the stitching along the right collarbone and its neighboring tears, the tears along the left shoulder, and the stage blood residue along the left collar during the scene where Judah begs a Roman guard for water before biting at his binds and nearly passing out from dehydration when he was given water by Jesus the Christ (Claude Heater). It was previously sold in a Butterfield & Butterfield entertainment memorabilia auction held in February 1996.

This lot consists of a brown and beige striped cloth Simmons tunic with a white linen lining marked "Mr. Charlton Heston "Ben Hur" #3." This lot exhibits a tear over the label.

Estimate: $5,000 - 10,000
