5 EARLY PERCUSSION CANE GUNS.
1) PINFIRE CANE GUN. Cal. approx. 7mm. NSN. Cane measures 36 1/2" in length. This early cane gun features a wooden body & wooden grip w/ 3 certifiably antique ivory diamond shaped inlays in the handle & a certifiably antique ivory tip. There are 4 brass pins supporting the mechanism along w/ 2 brass ferrules. The bottom ferrule is pierced w/ a leaf design. CONDITION: cane shows light wear w/ 1 notable age crack in the handle. The mechanism needs adjustment but does function. 2) UNDERHAMMER PERCUSSION MUZZLE LOADING CANE GUN. Cal. approx. 18 Ga. NSN. Cane measures 31". This early cane gun features a tubular steel body & wooden grip secured by 2 iron rivets on each side w/ a square brass washer supporting each rivet. Simple underhammer trigger mechanism. CONDITION: bbl. has a medium gray slightly mottled patina. Receiver area has a lightly pitted dark gray patina. Grips are well worn. Mechanism appears to function but may need adjustment. 3) RIMFIRE CANE GUN. Cal. approx. 32RF. NSN. Cane measures 35 1/2" in length. A fine early cane gun featuring a graduated tubular steel body painted black & a gutta percha grip. The tip has a 1 1/4" insert that protects the bbl. & stays in place during normal use. There is a 3/4" foliate embossed iron ferrule between the bbl. & the grip. CONDITION: black painted finish is approx. 80%. Gutta percha grip has an age crack on the underside. The firing mechanism appears to be missing a sm. piece. 4) PERCUSSION CANE GUN. Cal. approx. 36. NSN. Cane measures 35 1/4" in length. This cane gun has a 31" shaft w/a blued finish. It is fired by means of a musket cap w/ a spring actuated screw trigger. The curved handle is finished wood. CONDITION: shaft has approx. 70% blued finish remaining. Cane handle shows light wear. 5) PERCUSSION CANE GUN. Cal. approx. 36. NSN. Cane measures 33" in length. This cane gun has a 28 1/2 shaft w/a blued finish. It is fired by means of a musket cap w/ a spring actuated screw trigger. The curved handle is molded horn. CONDITION: shaft has approx. 95% blued finish remaining. Cane handle is detached from the shaft due to stripped threads in the horn. (01-18937(5)/BF). ALL ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,400.
