Group of 5 different hand carved Abalone Shell, or Mother of Pearl Gambling pieces or counters as they are also called.

Each single piece was individually hand carved.

They are fragile and thin and translucent when held up to the light. They can date from the 1700s to the late 1800s.

Karp fish with fins and gills well carved on its side.
A rectangle one with various designs surrounding what appears to be a Dragon Fly or Locust. For scale it measures about 63mm x 18mm.

The center round piece has triangles surrounding cubes on one side and a small Kubota type building on the other side. This one measures about 27mm in diameter.

The round one on the left shows a flower at center, surrounded by rays or triangles pointing outward.
The round chip on the far right has a bit of a scalloped edge and shows a flower design on one side and love birds on the other.

All are in good used condition with no damage other than the rectangle one has a tiny chip on one of its scallops, and the center one has a very tiny ding on edge.

A nice small collection, all hand made.
