Theodore Roosevelt drove his cattle to this town during the 1880s, when it was called Mingusville after early settlers. A French immigrant rancher, Pierre Wibaux had the town named after himself. The Northern Pacific Railroad turned the town into a major cattle shipping terminal.

Chartered in 1906, the bank went out of business in 1935.

Only 4 notes are known in all varieties, inclusive of 3 varieties of the large size $5, though no large size red seal notes were known until this piece was discovered. This note could be unique, and is a discovery note. None are listed in the census. In 1935, when the bank closed, there were only $330 still outstanding in large sized notes, which indicates this note is a great rarity and will always remain a great rarity.

There is a strong signature of President J. C. Kinney, an important local businessman. Also, this note has a strong vertical fold line at center, and has apparent restoration. -61909
