A fine group of antique English blue and white transfer-decorated ceramics, including a Clarendon pattern plate, along with a richly decorated ironstone covered serving dish by C. Phillips of Longport and a ladle. The Clarendon plate displays a charming pastoral scene with figures before an elaborate cathedral-like building, framed by floral borders and marked with the British royal arms and "Clarendon" to the underside. The covered serving dish, marked C. Phillips, Longport, is of octagonal form with scrolling handles and domed lid, decorated throughout with architectural landscape views and florals, bearing the robust weight and durability of early ironstone wares. This collection exemplifies the enduring popularity of English transferware during the mid-19th century, combining decorative appeal with functional utility. The pieces show expected age wear, including surface staining and crazing consistent with period use, which adds to their antique charm.
