1) 15 AMERICAN & BRITISH HEADGEAR. This lot of helmets includes 4 US M1880 summer sun helmets. 1 Helmet has a spike & base, another has just a spike & the other 2 have no spikes. Helmets are generally in rough condition. / 1 US M1887 summer sun helmet featuring an eagle front plate, spike & spike base. Top of helmet is crushed. / 1 WWII style Civil Defense style helmet painted white having “BERKSTRESSER” written on the front. / 1 Campaign hat having white M1902 cord. / 1 Campaign hat, no cord or sweatband. / 1 Early British sun helmet in rough condition. / 2 WWII era British sun helmets, 1 having a faux leopard band. / 1 M1881 style militia spike helmet for the 69th New York Infantry. Helmet has incorrect side button on the left & is crushed on the top. The chinstrap is detached. / 1 M1872 US militia shako having a label inside the reads in part, “FROM W. STOKES KIRK DEALER IN Government Goods”. / 1 Burns International security guard hat. / 1 NY special officers hat. CONDITION: all helmets & hats show light to moderate wear except where noted. (02-14296(15)/BF). 2) 14 US MILITARY HELMETS & LINERS. This lot of helmets includes 1 WWII sun helmet completely covered in names & hometowns of soldiers presumably in the owner’s unit. The name on the inside is “T.H. RAY”. 1 inscription at the top of the helmet gives that date, “Feb. 13, 1944”. A quick check of 1 name on the helmet, “Mario Romasco” reveals service in the US Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theater. A wonderful relic of the second World War. / 2 WWII sun helmets having Marine Corps globe & anchor insignia on the front. 1 Has a green lining, the other tan. / 6 WWII style military sun helmets. / 1 WWII period M1 helmet liner having the Lt. Colonel’s gold oak leaf painted on the front. / 1 WWII period M1 helmet liner. / 1 Korean War era M1 helmet liner w/ a cracked body. / 1 Swivel bail, rear seam M1 helmet featuring a full liner, chinstrap & camouflage cover. / 1 Swivel bail, rear seam M1 helmet featuring a later liner, chinstrap & camouflage cover. CONDITION: all helmets show light to moderate wear. Most of the sun helmets show light use. A few have scuffs & scrapes. The personalized helmet has clear signatures & is in solid condition. This lot of helmets includes 1 rear seam, swivel bail helmet featuring a liner that appears to be of WWII vintage, a chinstrap & a camouflage cover. / 1 Modern post Vietnam composite helmet featuring a full liner, chinstrap & camouflage cover. / 1 Front seam, fixed bail helmet featuring a full WWII liner & chinstrap. Helmet has a few noticeable dents. / 1 Liner for a Korean War era M1 helmet. / 6 M1 style helmet liners painted black having a hole drilled in the front to accept insignia. / 1 WWII era liner having a crack & damaged interior webbing. / 1 M1 style helmet liner painted metallic blue. Helmet is complete & features earphones, cords & goggles. The entire helmet was painted white in the period, possibly for winter camouflage. / 1 WWI dough boy style helmet having a 27th Division insignia painted on the front having liner & chinstrap. Soldier’s name & unit is stenciled around the inside rim. / 1 WWI dough boy style helmet having a 27th Division insignia painted on the front, no liner or chinstrap. /1 WWI dough boy style helmet having a painted insignia on the front showing a naval flag & the words, “7TH BATT. U S N R”. The entire helmet is painted deep blue & missing the liner & chinstrap. / 1 WWII Civil Defense helmet painted white having full liner & chinstrap. / 1 Early composite hard hat as worn by construction workers. / 1 Post WWII M1 style helmet featuring a rear seam, full liner & swivel bails. / 1 Post WWII M1 style helmet featuring a partial Red Cross on white painted on the front.
