.45-70 Sharps Rifle with a 24 Barrel
Good walnut stocks. The fore stock appears to be newer than the butt but is well fitted to the frame. Pewter fore end cap. The buttplate is a remnant of the old military, having a slot in the right edge that once had a patch box fitted. There are no factory markings on the lock plate suggesting a post civil war sale of parts and components from the Sharps factory was done, the buyer assembling rifles from original parts. There is no cartridge extractor. The number C.L. 214 is stamped on the upper tang. The bore looks good. There is no original finish to the metal parts. The lock mechanism is in strong working order.
