Duke, armored with sword and scepter in left hand; right on top of hilt with circle of pellets around. Leg: AUGUST9 D:G. -PO -EPIS.RACEBURG. <I>Reverse:</I> Crowned oval shield within circle of pellets around, mintmasters initials HS above crown. Leg: DUX.BRUNSUI.ET.LUNEBURGE. Sharply struck with an abundance of original mint fresh luster. Very Rare. <B>NGC graded MS-62.</B> <BR><BR>Ratzeburg is a small bishopric in north central Germany a bit south of Lubeck. It was a Protestant enclave administered by the dukes of Mecklenburg or Brunswick. The ruler at the time this coin was issued was August, Duke of Brunswick. The ducat states in the legend duke of Brunswick and bishop of Ratzeburg.
