You will not find anywhere such a genuine authentic signed 19th Century Kyoto Satsuma piece of this enormous size (almost 4 feet high - 46 1/2" on its matching stand and 15" diameter) or this remarkable artisan quality and outstanding condition. This museum grade vase is the finest example of Meiji Period Satsuma excellence and artisanship. This treasure depicts Samurai knights, a handsome hero accompanied by his sensei and a benvolent female angel as he moves forward to meet other Samurai, as well as another Samurai motif of our hero with his sensei as he holds out flowers in rich raised gilting and colored glazing. The Vase also features a background of beautifully crafted cherry blossoms, the shoulder covered in colorful nature motifs, and a fashion voluted neck and lip. The matching stand is signed and displays nature's leaf and flower motifs as well as lion face feet. No cracks, chips or other damage, or restorations of any kind. Circa 1880. h. Vase 39" stand 7 1/2", diameter 15".
