Otmar Alt (born 1940)

After finishing school he started his training as a poster painter and a designer of shop windows. In 1959, the artist took up studying at the Berliner Meisterschule für Kunsthandwerk (Berlin School for a Master’s degree in craftwork). After receiving his master’s degree under Professor Hermann Bachmann, Otmar Alt worked as an assistant of scenic design in Trier and Frankfurt am Main. He started organizing first exhibitions of his works on the side. Today, the artist and artisan has a versatile oeuvre, creates paintings, graphics and sculptures, designs children’s books, Olympia posters, wall and façade design, facilities for fountains and scenery design.
