Group of jade pendants, which shapes are related to millennia-old motifs of Chinese culture

This four Chinese jade pendants have a white to greenish colored jade, partly mottled with brown inclusions. The set includes three pendants in the shape of archaizing cicadas and a pendant in the shape of a bi-disc, surmounted by a squirrel. The bodies of cicadas are ornate with a fine pattern and the bi-disc shows open work in the area of the animal’s legs.



The jade carvings are in good condition with only slight signs of wear. The surface has a gleaming, oily appearance which is usual only for original pieces – displaying the excellent polish of the stone. The height measures from 5.5 to 6 cm.
