& STATE OF GEORGIA BUTTONS.
1) GENERAL SERVICE. A good example of a General Service enlisted man's button of the Confederacy manufactured in England during the war and imported via blockade runner. Albert # CS-81-A. Face depicts the lined letters "C.S.A" on a plain field. The reverse reads, "S.BUCKLEY & CO .BIRMINGHAM. ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button shows traces of original gilded finish.
2) SILVER GEORGIA. A seldom seen example of a Georgia State Militia button utilized by Confederate Forces during the Civil War. This button was manufactured in the North just prior to the war and sold to the State of Georgia or Georgia retailers. Albert # GA-4-A1. Face depicts the Georgia State Seal. The reverse reads, "HORSTMANN & ALLIEN .N Y. (with rays)". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button shows approx. 50% of original silvered finish.
3) GEORGIA. A great example of a Georgia State Militia button utilized by Confederate Forces during the Civil War. This button was manufactured in the North just prior to the war and sold to the State of Georgia or Georgia retailers. Albert # GA-2-A. Face depicts the Georgia State Seal. The reverse reads RMDC, "W. G. MINTZER (star) PHILA 1861 ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button shows 100% of original gilded finish.
4) GEORGIA MILITARY INSTITUTE. A rare example of a Confederate local cast pewter Georgia Military Institute cadet button. These cast buttons were made locally during the war when the supply of pre-war GMI buttons dried up. Albert # SU-128-TYPE. Face depicts an arch having 3 columns with "GMI" under the arch and "1851" under the base. The reverse is blank. Full straight shank. CONDITION: button has a light gray overall patina.
