3pc Royal Doulton Character Jugs, Busker, Chelsea Pensioner, City Gent
This lot features a distinguished trio of Royal Doulton character jugs, each a finely crafted example of British ceramic artistry. Included are: Chelsea Pensioner (D6775), City Gent (D6817), and The Busker (D6815). All three jugs were issued in the late 1980s and stand approximately 7 inches tall, showcasing the distinctive character and detail for which Royal Doulton is renowned. The Chelsea Pensioner, model D6775, issued in 1987, portrays a proud veteran in a vivid red military coat and black tricorn hat. His handle is adorned with medals and a star motif, symbolizing his decorated service. The City Gent, D6817, was named Character Jug of the Year in 1988 and depicts a quintessential London businessman in a bowler hat, with an umbrella handle, an elegant nod to Britain's financial class. Lastly, The Busker, D6815, also named Character Jug of the Year in 1988, captures the spirit of a cheerful street performer. He wears a flat cap and sports a concertina-themed handle, exuding warmth and charm. Each jug bears the official Royal Doulton backstamp and model number clearly on the base. The pieces are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing, only minor wear consistent with age. These jugs are part of the highly collectible D6000 series and were modelled by the talented Stanley James Taylor. Together, they represent a vibrant cross-section of British cultural icons and would make a prized addition to any Royal Doulton or character jug collection.
