STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE (1977) - Phil Tippett Collection: Set of Three Hand-Drawn Phil Tippett Cantina Character Concept Artworks - Three cantina character concept artworks hand-drawn by Phil Tippett for the production of George Lucas' Star Wars: A New Hope. Miniature and optical effects artist Tippett joined Rick Baker's makeup department to help construct additional creatures for the cantina scene in addition to designing and creating stop-motion animation sequences for the film.

This set of rejected character artworks created for the cantina scene originates from Tippett's collection. It consists of three various creatures rendered in graphite and mixed media on brown bristol board featuring Tippett's signature along the bottom along with "Star Wars '76" written on each. Two of the drawings feature the same type of creature, one in graphite and one in mixed media, with one of the creatures holding a staff. This lot exhibits drawing smudges, as well as discoloration and tears around the edges. Dimensions: (each) 11" x 14" (28 cm x 35.75 cm)
