Oh surely about 100 years old is as is this 1920's or so antique mint toy with side of box sticker "Cat No1217 Made In America American Flyer Electric Railroads Mrg Co Chicago Ilinois USA" ; wow, it's an antique toy train with original utmostly rare thick box (worth over 500$) with the big on top sticker with smilling happy handsome young boy holding a toy train, and with its literature in it, as well as with its electric motor ; original colours, mint all including one on both sides is written 'United States Mail Pailway Post Office' on that car with the two doors working as you slide them, all cars are tin metal, all wheels are metal too and work, with original colours too; for connaisseurs, collect or give this rare find (not on Ebay) ; collect or give this magnificent toy, as this was for millionnaires and / or billionnaires - note too that the back of the Observation car has a sticker marked 'Flyer Limited' likely for limited edition of this Pennsylvania Broadway Limited marked on sides as well on each of the 3 cars, plus on the electric the BELL is still there on the last car for observation ; and that 4th car is marked '3011' on one side in brass colour and on the other side 'American Flyer Lines' in brass colour ; too the original light bulb is on the back of it for observation having also its LIGHT : the original electric BULB on that 'caboose' !!! Information : in 1908, Edmonds-Metzel adopted the 'American Flyer' brand name for the trains ; by 1910, they were out of the hardware business and changed its name to 'American Flyer Manufacturing Company'. In 1918, American Flyer introduced its FIRST electric train, an 'O' gauge model that was simply a windup model with an electric motor replacing the clockwork motor. This one at auction is an CHIGAGO as at that time the administration offices and factory of the American Flyer Manufacturing Co. were located at 2219-2239 South Halsted Street in CHICAGO. In 1925, American Flyer started to offer WIDE gauge electric trains at a PREMIUM price and this way attempted to compete with the Lionel Corporation at the HIGH END of the market ; for you or give this exquisite so rare mint toy of great much intriguing refinnements !!!
