STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN (1982) - Matted Hand-Painted Bob Peak Poster Comp - A poster comp hand-painted by commercial artist Bob Peak for the promotion of Nicholas Meyer's Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Admiral James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and the crew of the Enterprise attempted to stop Khan Noonien Singh (Ricardo Montalban) from activating Genesis, a device capable of turning living worlds into dead ones.

Known for designing some of the most recognizable posters in film history, including those for the first five Star Trek films, My Fair Lady, and Superman, Peak created multiple concept artworks for Wrath of Khan, including this painting, designed with Spiros Angelikas, closely resembling the final British one-sheet depicting Khan Noonien Singh (Ricardo Montalban) looming over the crew of the Enterprise and the Genesis device. Peak was honored for his contributions to illustration with a 2011 exhibition at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Peak created this comp by drawing the figures in the foreground on paper, then pasting the paper to a canvas background. The painting is rendered in mixed media and mounted inside a custom white matte frame. The frame exhibits bending at its corners, and the painting features a black bordered box in its bottom right corner obscuring the large image. Dimensions: 32" x 40" x 1" (81.5 cm x 101.75 cm x 2.5 cm)
