3351- 1929 $5 Indian NGC MS62
<Our item number 121415>1929 $5 Indian. NGC graded MS-62. Popular key date. Lightly toned. Always in demand. Frosty with mint luster. During 1929, the Philadelphia Mint produced quarter eagles, half eagles, and double eagles, but no eagles. And since coinage requirements could be met by the home mint at Philadelphia, the branch mints were left out of the picture on the subject of gold coins, none were struck at Denver or San Francisco this year. The quarter eagle of 1929 is an easily acquired issue with general affordability. On the other hand, the half eagles and double eagles are both rare and hard to pin down. For collectors of Indian half eagles, examples in MS62 are offered from time to time, but finer Gem quality pieces cost nearly a king's ransom.

This final year of issue example would make a fine acquisition for this popular series, and a very rare find indeed. Most were gathered up and melted during the gold seizure of 1933. Later (1937) the seized coins were melted and formed into bars. Precious few 1929 half eagles survive, let alone in such Choice condition. The present coin shows strong luster and excellent surfaces required for the NGC grade. Pop 43. (PCGS # 8533).
Estimated Value $17,000-18,000.

Our item number 121415
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
