Oliver Cromwell, 'the Great Emancipator' was born on 25th April 1599 in Huntington, England. After the end of the English Civil War and the eventual execution of King Charles, the Protectorate was established in December 1653. The portrait coins were authorized in 1656 and the first full production came in 1657, followed by a second, more plentiful one before the death of Cromwell in September 1658. Although these were often referred to as patterns, there is nothing to suggest that the portrait coins of Oliver Cromwell were not intended for general circulation.
Estimated Value $6,500-7,500.

Our item number 112014
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
