STAR TREK III: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK (1984) - Michael and Denise Okuda Collection: Starship Excelsior "U.S.S. Alka-Celsior" Study Model - A starship Excelsior "U.S.S. Alka-Celsior" study model from Leonard Nimoy's Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. Study models such as this were designed by Nilo Rodis-Jamero after initial sketches were approved and built by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) model builders to act as prototypes for the finalized studio models. A few of these study models eventually became canon, such as the two-engine model labeled "U.S.S. Alka-Selsior (NCC-1404)" as a riff on Alka-Seltzer. Additionally, the ship appeared with four nacelles in the starship graveyard scene of the classic Next Generation episode "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II."

This lot comes from the collection of celebrated Star Trek franchise artists and advisors Michael and Denise Okuda. It consists of one starship study made of plastic with vinyl sticker detailing and two mismatched nacelles made of plastic. The ship has "U.S.S. Alka-Celsior (NCC-1404)" labeled on the top of the dish. This lot exhibits some discoloration and a buildup of grime. Dimensions: 14" x 24" x 2.25" (35.5 cm x 61 cm x 5.75 cm)Though their long and celebrated careers in the Star Trek world began in features, Michael and Denise Okuda established themselves as franchise legends while working on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Michael became art supervisor on TNG, while Denise came on as a scenic artist during Deep Space Nine, roles they would continue to perform through Voyager, Enterprise, and the Next Generation films. Married in 1993, the Okudas are known as the driving forces behind the development of many of the now-iconic 24th-century technologies seen throughout the series, including the famous "Okudagrams" they created for the LCARS (Library Computer Access and Retrieval System) interfaces . Propstore is proud to present a selection of key memorabilia from the personal collection of one of the franchise's most important creative teams to the public for the first time.
