A three-case inro of lacquer inlaid with porcelain. Mid 18th century. Contained within a dark brown frame, the green porcelain figures of Lao-Tze on the front and a pair of sages on the back are inlaid against a brown mokume ground. Unsigned. 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". ++ A patinated wood manju in the shape of a priest's begging bowl, the outside covered with a long poem. Signed Fuji Dainen to in gyosho. Read by Yukari Yoshida.
