3:10 To Yuma Ben Wade Russell Crowe Hero Hand Of God Pistol
This is one of the most sought after iconic guns in Western movie history. The Hero gun screen used exclusively by Russell Crowe in the 2007 blockbuster remake of "3:10 To Yuma". Billed as a "psychological western", it was still filled with some of the most astonishing action sequences and gun play ever filmed. Russell Crowe played Ben Wade, a well educated gunslinger, a born leader, amazing shot, womanizer and virtually sociopath. Russell was extremely involved in all aspects of his character, including helping to design both his iconic hat, and this "Hand of God" pistol. This is a true treasure. His personally used Hero Single Action Colt Army Peacemaker with the real solid gold "Hand of God" crosses embedded in the handles. There were at least four guns created for the movie, including several rubber stunt guns, but only one was the true Hero. This is it. Under the guidance of legendary motion picture gun expert Thell Reed, this actual "live fire" pistol was created to be an exact replica of the Colt's of the 1870's. Mr. Reed had the gun manufactured at Colt's original Hartford, Connecticut factory. No detail of this gun was overlooked from the case hardening, and bluing (even on the hammer), to the black powder frame and special markings, including frame and barrel matching and patent numbers. Mr. Reed also had Colt create a shorter barrel(4 3/4") so that Russell who had trained with Mr. Reed on many films for over ten years, could utilize his skilled quick draw techniques. Mr. Reed then smoothed and polished and redid the action and gave it an astonishing light 1.5 pound trigger pull, exclusively for Russell Crowe. This gun was also specifically made for close-up work which meant having the 1870's Cold original address on the barrel (COLT’S PT.F.A.MFG.CO), an extremely expensive proposition, which required finding the rare roll marks and then engraving them on the barrel. These marks authenticate this as the true Hero gun of Russell's. No other gun has these markings. Since other actors used the gun in the movie, several versions of less detail were made, but this was the one that Russell used exclusively. With its attention to detail and solid gold crosses, this is truly one of the most sought after guns in all of western movie history. It comes with a special Certificate of Authenticity written and signed by Thell Reed. Because this is a true "live fire" gun, it will require special handling and special FFL licensing in order to be picked up or shipped. Arrangements will be made for this transfer, but the fees for these papers will be in addition to the sale price. (Special note: sans any last minute commitments, Thell Reed will be at the live auction to answer any and all questions!)
