A vibrant pair of glazed ceramic tiles produced by Saji Tile Works, Japan, depicting finely detailed religious figures rendered in rich polychrome. Each tile measures approximately 6 inches square and bears the impressed "Made in Japan" and "SAJI Tile Works" trademarks to the reverse, featuring the distinctive diamond logo enclosing the "S" and "H" monogram. One tile portrays Krishna, standing by a river beneath trees, playing his flute, with monkeys, peacocks, and lotus blossoms completing the lush scene. The second tile depicts Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of wisdom and music, seated with her veena in hand, accompanied by floral and avian motifs. Both figures are haloed, underscoring their divine presence. The tiles display brilliant glazing with raised relief modeling, typical of early 20th century Japanese export ceramics produced for the Indian market. They retain strong color, though with expected age wear, light surface soiling, and scattered glaze crazing consistent with age and use. The backs are intact, with clear impressed maker's marks.
