2nd model Schofield, .45 Schofield caliber single-action revolver, U.S. martially marked, blue finish, serial #6928, numbered “102” behind hammer, and one of a number identified to San Francisco PoliceDepartment. An article by Charles W. Pate entitled The San Francisco Police S&W Schofield discusses in depth the identification of these revolvers which are rack marked and to summarize, he states ‘300Schofield revolvers were provide to California in 1877’. The pistol remains in fine to near excellent original condition with 75-85% original bright blue, some slight flaking, and areas where the blue has lifted show a light grey to brown patina. Super-sharp edges and markings. Very crisp overall, with 75-85% case hardening on hammer and triggerguard with some good rainbow hues. Good action, tight at the latch,excellent bore. Back of cylinder has not been relieved for .45 ACP cartridges as many often are. Matching cylinder number with all correct inspections, and cartouche wood grips show “DAL” and “1877” on left, “CW” on
